Recruitment Without Gacha

Hound13's AMA confirmed the 19 launch heroes recruit through two primary paths: automatic story unlocks as you meet characters during main quests, and voluntary companion recruitment using currency earned from exploration and requests. No duplicate pulls, no pity systems, no premium summon tickets. Post-launch heroes Ryza, Jerome, Veronica, and Logan arrive free in H2 2026 as sequential content updates rather than paid expansions.

Demo Availability Matrix

Nine heroes appear in the Steam demo sandbox after Chapter 1: the Johnny Mercenary core plus Kalien, Theresia, and Ornette among others.
