DragonSword: Awakening How to Use Astria

Last updated: August 2026

Steelheart Fortress crossbow Breaker — Fate's Invitation unlock, team roles, and Coral Summer Mischief cosmetic from Patch 1.0.6 / Summer Sea Set.

Overview

Astria is Captain of the Steelheart Fortress garrison in the Orbis Kingdom — a cheerful, talkative former farmer who fights with a ranged crossbow applying Break under the Breaker trait. She does not join through main story quests; recruit her with a Fate's Invitation ticket in the Exchange menu once you have spare currency from finished chapters or Hero Quests. Read the full Astria character profile for faction context and the Fate's Invitation unlock guide for the complete eight story versus eleven Exchange roster split.

Unlock — Fate's Invitation Exchange

Astria is one of eleven Exchange-only heroes at launch. Earn tickets from the Prologue (~15 minutes in), each completed story chapter, and Hero Quest milestones. Open the Exchange menu, select Astria, and confirm — no random pulls, no duplicate requirement. Prioritize her when your active trio lacks Break coverage or when you want a safe ranged opener who keeps distance from Super Armor elites. If Break is already covered by Castella or Johnny, consider Bleed specialists like Theresia or Roxy first — validate gaps in the Team Builder before spending.

Combat Role — Breaker / Ranged Crossbow

Astria's Breaker trait optimizes her kit around Break application from crossbow bolts and skill shots. She excels as a backline opener who depletes Super Armor before melee heroes swap in for Stun or Knockdown extensions. Crossbow range lets her contribute during Field Giant approach phases without committing to grab windows — controller players benefit from retail lock-on tracking bolt targets on mobile bosses. Her Signal Skills and Switching Signals trigger when Break icons are active on the health bar; pair with heroes who extend stagger rather than re-applying redundant Break stacks.

Team Synergy

Slot Astria as the Break applicator in classic mercenary loops: Astria opens Break, Lute or Johnny extends with Stun or Knockdown, and Aria or Reina finishes with Airborne or Fire detonation. She complements story-unlocked Castella when you need ranged Break without swapping your axe specialist off-field. For Organa Order-themed Shock chains, bench Astria in favor of Exchange recruit Sion — Astria and Sion cover different ailment families despite both serving mid-campaign Orbis factions. Browse Team Builds for pre-tested triplets once Break coverage is confirmed.

Summer Sea Set Cosmetics

Patch 1.0.6 added Astria's Coral Summer Mischief costume and matching Sunshine Heartshot weapon skin as part of the paid Summer Sea Set bundle on Steam — cosmetic-only, no stat changes. Individual packs cost roughly $7.99 with a 10% launch discount for two weeks; the full bundle saves about 30%. Equip via ESC → Hero → hanger icon. Restart the client if you purchase while the game is running. Details and Reina/Cerese pack listings live on our Summer Costumes and Weapon Skins guide.
